Contact lenses have become so comfortable to wear that we often times forget they are considered medical devices and can increase corneal infection rates.
You can liken a contact lens to a little sponge. It soaks up whatever it has been exposed to and chronically exposes your cornea to those substances for the duration that you have the contact lens on your eye. This is why it so important to remove your lenses every night and clean them and also replace them regularly according to the advised schedule. These infections are real and they do occur. Please don't let this be your eye!
